Pros

- Hybrid work - 3 days in office, 2 days at home (typically Tuesdays and Fridays, but that may have changed to alleviate parking lot issues) - Health Insurance was good - Good employee discount on furniture (which is fine, but not worth the price they charge for it)

Cons

I would not recommend working at Four Hands, if you have the option to avoid it—especially if you're being considered for a brand-new role that’s never existed at the company before. In those cases, unless there's a clear and detailed roadmap for how you’ll be integrated into the business, along with defined opportunities for career growth, there is a chance you will be left adrift. At one point, I was told by my manager to “figure out what your job is”. There is a persistent issue with favoritism, and unless you’re well-liked by the C-suite executive you report to, you’ll constantly feel the looming threat of January lay-offs. I often felt undermined and made to feel incompetent by leadership—particularly by the executive I reported directly to. Diversity, particularly within upper management, is severely lacking. The company expanded rapidly during the 2020/2021 lockdown(s) and, as a result, many of their internal processes still feel outdated and inefficient 4-5 years later. Communication across the organization is poor—both between departments and from upper management down through the ranks. This lack of clarity breeds confusion, tension, and resentment. While the company tries to counter this with bi-weekly department “spotlights,” these meetings typically do little more than interrupt your workday to applaud random numbers on a PowerPoint slide. The fast-paced growth also gives the impression that there’s no true long-term vision beyond “sell more than last year.” As a result, teams swing between being overstaffed and understaffed, with little consistency in workload. Four Hands is actually very good with transparency, but not in the way you would want/expect as it often comes in the form of unprofessional gossip. It’s not uncommon for a manager to talk about info shared in your 1x1s with peers at your level, which creates a cliquish, exclusionary atmosphere. There’s also a strong emphasis on the party culture and drinking, which might appeal to some—but if you choose not to participate, you are made to feel judged.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience at Four Hands didn’t meet your expectations, especially after being part of the team for several years. While we’re glad to hear you appreciated our hybrid work model, health benefits, and employee discounts, we take your concerns seriously and are committed to learning from them. Your comments about role clarity, communication, and the consistency of leadership behaviors highlight areas we know require continued focus and improvement. We understand how frustrating it can be to feel unsupported in a new position or unclear about career growth opportunities. We’ve been working to improve onboarding for new roles and define clearer development paths across departments. We also hear your concerns about culture, inclusion, and communication. While we strive to build a welcoming, high-performing, and values-driven environment, we recognize that individual experiences can vary, and that perceived favoritism or gossip has no place in a healthy workplace. We’re reinforcing leadership training, accountability, and 360 feedback to ensure all employees feel respected, heard, and supported. Thank you again for your contributions during your time at Four Hands. We appreciate your honesty and wish you continued success in your career.

Thank you for your feedback and for being a part of Four Hands for several years. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the benefits, events, and especially the strong culture and community of like-minded colleagues—those are things we truly value and work hard to cultivate. We also appreciate you highlighting areas where we can improve. We know that a great experience at work often comes down to the day-to-day relationships within your team, and we take concerns about management consistency seriously. We’re actively investing in leadership development and coaching to ensure our managers are equipped to lead with fairness, clarity, and respect across all departments. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts—and for continuing to help shape the Four Hands experience. We're always listening and learning.
