Unfortunately, the middle management at Four Winds Interactive are filled with incompetent people with little leadership skills. On the technical side, the technical leaders amount to not much more than a warm body to fill a role. The technical leaders do not provide any value on discussions related to product direction, infrastructure decisions, or any type of vision for the future that employees can get behind. In addition, it's very difficult to get any type of upward mobility. Management requires a lot of following up with in order to get any type of salary increase or promotion. In fact, at one point I was given a promotion without a salary increase, which I found to be highly insulting. A lot of poor decisions were made in quick succession that drove away a lot of the great engineers on the team. But, management did not seem to care, nor did they do anything to stop the bleeding or incentivize people to stay with the company. If the technical management was replaced with people who had passion, technical competence, and a lead-by-example mentality Four Winds Interactive could really excel.
