Pros

Generally smart and helpful colleagues in the area of analytics People friendly policies, founders do care a lot about employees and these policies are instilled in organization culture for the most part. Very transparent decision making process. Feedback is solicited every now and then. Employees are actively encouraged to take ownership.

Cons

Like many other small or large consulting firms, Fractal was lured into asset based consulting. Fast forward few years - this model didn't really meet the expectation for both large and small consulting firms, and it did impact the top and bottom line. For a consulting or even a product firm - very odd sales structure in the US/UK. Never seen a org where pretty much all the sales folks start at leadership position and in the same (or even better) career track as consultants, engineers and data scientists. Apart from building or trying to build relationships with prospects and talking about analytics solutions at a very high level, many of these folks are completely dependent on others, this even includes creating a deck with one slide. Building relationship is an important part but when our clients are sitting on fire with these rapid technology changes, most important thing they are looking for is someone who have the skills and experience to successfully guide them in adapting these changes (trusted advisors). There seems to be an implicit culture in the firm where sales folks think their job is to get the work done by consultants, and consultants think their job is to make engineers and data scientists work and it goes on. In the end you are not left with many people who can do the real work. Partly this can be blamed to confusing operating model as well.

Pros

Very employee friendly policies, culture and support staff. Cantene free food has been consistently amazing. Good work life balance. Company spends a lot on gifts/outings. I have seen some good projects. Nice client relationships and market rapport maintained.

Cons

Career progression not very clear, examples of loyal employees with stagnant career demotivates from planning a longterm career here. Rewards and recognitions are less meaningful as it is sometimes given in rotation. Accounts are very different, people in different accounts get different level of opportunities.
