Pros

The paralegals were fun to work with. Amongst the paralegal, we helped each other out and became like a family. Learned the most from other fellow paralegals.

Cons

Where to start...the managing partner is on a power trip and makes rule that are so ridiculous but are only meant to further his power within the firm. paralegals get all the blame for mistakes and there is very little training. anything done correctly is usually credited to the attorneys. people are constantly getting laid off and fired and all paralegals are in fear that they are next. there are few events that show any employment appreciation. although there defiantly are some supervisors that sympathize with the paralegal's poor treatment, majority of the higher staff are not willing nor have the time to train the paralegals properly. In addition, the company hires majority of their staff with little experience allowing them to pay extremely minimally. For such a big internationally known firm, you would think the pay would be a bit more decent especially with the amount of money the partners are making.

Pros

You get a paycheck...so there is that.

Cons

What's most surprising from reading the others reviews is the theme across various locations. Such as, divisions being created between attorney and paralegal, its a paralegal sweat shop, or even the hiring of new employees with no experience, little to no training and thrown to the wolves, if they mess up its on them and they are fired quickly. I already had experience before this firm and did not have this issue, but I saw how they set up new people to fail. The HR department is the worst I have ever dealt with. And there is a 50/50 chance they lay you off after the H-1b Cap. Attorneys will delete documents from the database to make themselves look good/lie to clients, they will change documents, and will throw any "low level employee" under the bus for their own sake, even if they signed off on it and OK'd the mistake or made the mistake themselves. Pay is okay, but for a sweat shop where you bring in $400,000 in legal fees and make under $40,000, you could at least be shown respect or acknowledge in the hallway, would really go a long way. Good chance the Partner won't know your name or who you are, even when you work in their office and see them daily, attorney's will act like you don't exist in the hallways or you are just there to bother them and prevent them from leaving early.

Pros

Quick hiring process and monthly office happy hour. Very few organizational layers and affable lawyers. Complaince law firms are generally less stressful work environments.

Cons

Unambitious work colleagues and lost of micro-managing by higher-ups. Then again, it is a law firm so the micro-managing is to be expected. Few incentives to build a career at the firm, which is a shame since a lot more people would stay on if they knew what to plan for.
