Pros

Great people, awesome clients and families, and a great place to learn and start your career.

Cons

Longevity without an advanced degree is lacking, with little room to grow.

Pros

This is a good place to get some exposure to working in mental health, particularly with children and in Autism services. They have flexible schedules and depending on your location parking might be free. Other employees tend to be very nice and working with children is extremely rewarding. I have no doubt that taking a part-time job here really helped me develop skills for working with children in mental health and gave me an edge with getting a good internship for my counseling internship (which has since turned into a great offer for full-time post degree employment).

Cons

Despite the companies claim that they offer career advancement it is very hard to get full-time employment as a non-licensed employee. I received Clinical Program Assistant of the Month and repeatedly asked to be put up to full-time. However, Instead, they stood on more employees for my room. My understanding is they are reluctant to give employees full time because then they would have to offer benefits. Pay is also extremely low and the work is very hard and intense. I considered returning after graduating with my MA in counseling but I can make much more in private practice and the work is much less taxing. This is a great place to get some experience and work part-time as a student but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone needing a living wage and work-life balance. The MHP 1 and 2's were constantly overwhelmed and could barely keep up with paperwork. If my memory is correct I was started at 13.75 an hour with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and most of an MA in psychology. It's super fun and I miss the kids but I can't see going back even with my counseling license unless they make significant changes.
