Pros

Benefits are reasonably good. Union-backed position. Work environment is generally laid back and free wheeling. Working outside when the weather is nice.

Cons

Store/upper management doesn't care much about employee welfare and is often incompetent. You have to constantly deal with terrible or stupid customers. There's little room for advancement or promotion. The pay isn't great but it's retail. Job attracts incompetent, unreliable, and lazy workers. Inconsistent schedules and hours for most positions. Working outside when the weather is miserable.

Pros

Good coworkers, most of the customers are very nice and understanding, and so far I've been able to learn and pick up on things very fast. Overall, training was a bit chaotic but went well.

Cons

I literally just started on June 6th. I wasn't even working at the store, I spent my entire first day doing orientation. That consisted of reading and programs on the computer for hours on end. Very understaffed, and am not allowed to use the register until I take an 8 hour class to get "certified." That slows things down because I have to wait for someone else to do it even if there isn't any help in the deli during that time and my coworkers go on break. Not to mention HR scheduled me for a class but sent me to the wrong store. I also don't appreciate working 7 or more days straight on inconsistent hours and days but having the pay period split into two different weeks so I don't get paid any overtime.

Pros

Never had an issue with parking.

Cons

It seemed the management suddenly became (metaphorically) hard of hearing or blind when it came to requesting time off and it felt intrusive when LP would do random bag searches as employees were leaving at end of shift.
