Pros

The work was mindless but not too bad. It was fun to interact with customers and I was moving all day stocking shelves, lifting boxes, etc. so I felt pretty good physically. There was always something to do, especially during the day when time flew by. I loved helping customers and daytime tasks varied a lot which was nice. The department managers were nice and my coworkers were pleasant to work with. There was some upward mobility if you wanted to manage and the pay wasn't bad for retail.

Cons

The managers who worked in back were extremely unpleasant to be around. They avoided eye contact, barked orders, never said hello or goodbye, never gave any positive feedback. I avoided them as much as possible. Everyone seemed to accept it which was weird to me, even after one of the managers made an employee cry and then mocked her for crying. "That's just how he is" was the attitude. The expectations were impossible to meet, such as straightening every single item on the shelves in every aisle in a time period that was completely unrealistic. They trained me to be extremely precise in what to do, but I realized later that no one actually worked that way because they would never have enough time to finish the work. So why did they train me that way to begin with? It caused unnecessary stress and it felt like I was set up to fail. I asked for direct feedback and to observe the way it was supposed to be done, and I never saw anyone do what was expected of me within the time frame. My direct supervisor was very nice, but unfortunately I never saw her and was stuck working for the unpleasant male managers at night because you have little control over your schedule. It was one of the worst jobs I've ever had and I'm glad to be out of that place.

Pros

Decent benefits and vacation pay increase with length of service. Employee discounts. Same day sick pay. Transfers across the company for employees interested in relocating.

Cons

Corporate policies stranglehold over logical management decisions. Decreasing compensation for inflation and reluctance to living wage pay. Poor organizational practices and massive mis management and employee retention.

Pros

Alot of the fellow employees were pretty cool to talk to, and 1-2 days off a week (normally).

Cons

I only made 10.80/hour with 8 years of experience while doing the job of several people (there was alot of work). They aren't very flexible with scheduling, if they don't seem to like you then you are screwed (favoritism).
