Pros

insurance, decent pay, co workers in our area agree this place is going down the tubes. working with antiquated equipment means you have lots of retirees to go to for training.

Cons

lack of training, lack of money and time for maintenance on failing cable plant, local management push sales because they were never in craft side of industry. Frontier 143 only hired sales people after Verizon sold the 13 states to Frontier.

Pros

Very good engineers, very good engineering managers, minimal automation

Cons

Terrible process; nobody has a clue as to how an order flows from one group to another; they have been transitioning from RT to M6 for the last year and a half and it still hasn't gone anywhere

Pros

The health care benefits and the wages are great. Vacation time is also generous and we presently have good retirement benefits, but we have been in contract negotiations for a year now and the company wants to take these "frivolous" things from us.

Cons

The management is very concerned with the company reputation. They are sending emails asking for employees to post positive messages on glassdoor after they were ranked the third worst to work for. This is common practice. We are encouraged, even threatened, to put a positive spin on everything. Even if the ship is on fire and sinking we are expected to smile and keep our mouth shut. The end of a quarter coming up? Complete as many orders as possible whether they're done or not so the shareholders will see good numbers. Access lines declining? Install free second lines for the customers so we can fudge the numbers. As long as you keep your mouth shut and your work percentages high, management will leave you alone. You won't get any praise, but you'll be left alone. Let your numbers drop below the average though, heaven help you. You'll get threatened relentlessly with the worst shifts, getting your vehicle replaced with the worst in the fleet and even the dreaded PIP program. Once an employee is on the Process Improvement Plan he/she can expect the typical blacklist treatment from all salary employees and his/her boss reminding them daily that they are close to being terminated.
