Pros

Frontier's culture allows a level of local control of key decisions that will have the best impact on customers, sales, etc. That is their biggest strength! Relying on their employees to make great decisions. Frontier is very nimble at taking a new direction in investment. I am certain that in a rural market with little or no competition, that these two attribute are all that are needed to succeed.

Cons

The SLT (Senior Leadership Team) has presented an updated strategy as to where they are taking the company, but to the average work in the highly competitive Seattle Metro area that strategy doesn't add up. The overall feeling of employees in WA is that Frontier is that every new action that the SLT takes is more 'frantic' than the last. After a conversion of all customers and employees from all Verizon systems to Frontier systems, customer service levels have continued to tank far worse than anyone had thought possible. Customers are constantly received no bills, wrong bills, they are disconnected by accident when calling to make a simple change, 20% of service orders are lost until the customer calls in on their due date to ask why no one has shown up. Further, under the heading of 'Frontier Frantic', every 90 days (at most) the company strategy changes. First expand the reach....wait... stop....expand the speed.....wait....stop....and on it goes. Verizon invested in a very advanced fiber to the home network in the urban and suburban serving areas but Frontier has taken no steps to take advantage of this asset. In Frontier Fios (the fiber to the home network) is a four-letter word.

Pros

Benefits for the craft employees. Cafeteria in the basement. Many pleasant co-workers.

Cons

Low salary with the risk of taking salary cuts each year. Poor and incompetent management, especially corporate management. No training for managers. You get promoted based on who you know and how well you "kiss up" to the bosses. Even Maggie Wilderotter, the CEO, was propped up by her father, an executive from AT&T. Many areas are under staffed due to severe cuts. Corporate only thinks to increase the stock price by cutting jobs and budgets. They have no plan to actually grow the business. The company is not forward thinking. Frontier is old school telecommunications. They are getting left behind by their competitors. I have witnessed unethical practices from the top of the company down. They will blatantly hire a friend that is unqualified over a much higher qualified candidate. This has become the norm. They talk big about diversity and hiring veterans but don't ask to see the figures. On the fifth floor in Charleston, WV there are no female upper level managers. There is only one minority. Corporate sent an email to everyone asking them to log on here and boost the ratings so they will look better. Everyone in management is out for themselves. It can be very cut throat. People will use your words against you to better their standing in the company. This has created a very isolated and partially paranoid working environment. Everyone things somebody is out to get them. Fresh and new ideas are frowned upon. It is better to keep your head down and not get noticed. Corporate talks a big game but never backs it up. The company brags about not having a work/life balance. Some managers brag about working 6/7 days a week and expect you to drop everything if they need you. You have to answer emails at all hours no matter the days. The culture is a typical corporate culture where everyone is out for themselves and will stab you in the back if it means they can benefit from it in some way.

Pros

The benefits are good. A great learning experience for what not to do in a corporate environment.

Cons

The culture is fear based with little to no support from supervisors or senior management. Training is non-existent and new hires are expected to figure out processes and procedures on their own. Employees are in self-preservation mode due to the culture, so collaboration is limited and getting "thrown under the bus" is common.
