Pros

Good benefits and decent pay when you first start. Marketing org and messaging has improved greatly with new leadership. Some very good, smart people - though many have been leaving due to downward spiral of culture and market competitiveness.

Cons

Lots of layoffs - lack of stability, lack of pay raises and a lot "do more with less and we're not giving you more money so suck it up, buttercup". Lack of respect from senior leadership - severe level of micro-management and finger pointing. Struggle to get a clear (and innovative) roadmap from product that gets customers and employees excited and make FS more competitive.

Pros

Some great, genuine, smart people who work hard and want to contribute. The product has real potential to be powerful if design and engineering were more focused and got more investment. Pay is good, but remains flat without a job title change. Barely keeping up with cost of living rises but at least those salary increases do get added annually.

Cons

Leadership. Constant reorgs. Constant strategy changes. Constant messaging changes because leadership can’t agree. Constant finger pointing. A select few at the top making decisions about the fates of teams they know nothing about. Squandering actually talented and smart people because it’s easy to just assign blame instead of redirecting their efforts to what’s needed. Glossing over major departures and not being honest about reasons why we’re letting certain people go has ruined the trust employees once had in the people running the company. Lack of clarity in product direction breeds miscommunication in marketing and sales. We continue to market the art of the possible too early. Lack of investment and accountability in the product org. Many managers who shift focus before completing what they promised to deliver multiple quarters ago. Lots of conversations about what we could do and what’s possible, not enough concrete decision making and plans that are adhered to. The smallest product wins are sold internally as massive successes. We should have higher standards for ourselves. Certain teams keep seeing restructures after being given competing priorities. The company is very quick to point fingers at middle management when the C-suite cannot get on the same page. Select teams have managed to maintain the humanity in their work. Most are thrown around frequently with new leaders assigned and no hand-off, forcing ICs to have to educate new bosses while being given even more work with little support. Some leaders do not respect the “out of office” status and make people feel guilty if they don’t respond quickly enough. Slack has the schedule message feature for a reason. Use it.
