Great Learning Experience

Pros

Not all design decisions are made by managers, so there is a good deal of architectural freedom when it comes to daily work as a software engineer at Fullpower. Everyone I worked with personally was awesome, and there weren't much office politics as far as I could tell. Only occasionally was I asked to work more than 40 hours a week. Great work/life balance! All employees get at least 3 weeks vacation. Great location!

Cons

Even though you won't be overworked, they aren't willing to make any arrangements for part-time work, which makes it hard if you don't believe in the traditional "40 hour workweek." The culture seems a bit dated. The random spurts of team events are few and far between. If "dogs in the office" is enough culture for you, this won't be a problem. From what I saw, the CEO only works directly with around 4 employees, even though there are almost 100 employees in the company. I only saw him in the office a few times a month at most. There were times when I wasn't sure who to speak with about employment matters. There isn't an HR department. The company almost never provides lunch. Coffee is provided, and there is an "employee contribution box" for milk by the espresso machine. Yes, there is a milk contribution box at a software company with almost 100 employees. Many of the other tech companies in Santa Cruz are generous when it comes to providing the greatest food for their employees. Low pay.

Each team member has a personal space (as opposed to distracting open workspace environment). Each team member is empowered, not micro managed. 5. Innovation and global technology leadership is what drives Fullpower.

Great place to work in Santa Cruz

Pros

I really enjoy the low stress environment (a majority of the time). It's easy to find a work schedule that works best for employees. I enjoy that there is more to do than just push around paperwork. Everyone is very smart, friendly and hard-working . People who are not interested in contributing good work do not last very long.

Cons

It's a small-ish company so you may be end up having more than one job or role.

- Can be a bit chaotic, especially in crunch time - Speaking of crunch time, you may be asked to work extra hours when there's a deadline
