Pros

Great people in some positions. Of course the kids are a joy to teach and you are impacting the life of a child. You can't argue with the extrinsic rewards that go along with teaching. The work is so challenging during the year, so you appreciate the breaks from school.

Cons

District changes the expectations at the drop of a dime. They have no clue as to what goes on at the actual school level. Its VERY political within some schools. You better hope that the principal likes you! The evaluations are so subjective that it's ridiculous. If the evaluator does not care for you, your evaluation will reflect it! BEWARE!

Pros

There are incredible students and staff here, similar to any district.

Cons

Leadership is incredibly unorganized and unpredictable. There is not a strategic plan to guide work. It is fire drill after fire drill. Leaders are reactive rather than proactive in their approaches. Leaders are unqualified in that they do not stay current on best practices and are so far removed from the actual happenings in the schools that they are ill informed. Pay is abysmal. Roles are not structured to be sustainable. Systems of support are not in place to sustain initiatives. Zero focus on equity. In fact FCS’s motto is where students come first but in reality it is where parents, administrators, and teachers that complain the loudest come first.

Pros

Pay is good (but you don't pay into social security so work somewhere else the last five years before you retire). Grade levels support each other. Good working teacher laptops and students have devices for middle and high.

Cons

Lower performing schools are pushing students along that are at least one grade level, Pattern of hiring young and aggressive leadership that doesn't protect their school staff. Treat teachers as expendable and use TKES (very subjective) to get rid of teachers that admin doesn't like. Massive turn-over at the school this year, some requested transfers out, some leaving district for better work environment or easier student population, and some quit teaching (none retired).
