Happy with my job

Pros

We get to pick some of the things we work on and don't get bored with one project at a time. Extra week of vacation at Christmas. Big company parties and just went to Top Golf last weekend. Only one meeting a week to go to. I hang out with people from my department most weekends.

Cons

I wish I was more prepared after college (technical major). The training is more about company products and not OS and networking. Be ready to work hard if this is your first job.

Rocket Ship

Pros

This company is growing very quickly. It has changed a lot since my employment first began. The longer you've been onboard the more change you've seen. Every step of the way we’ve had to make adjustments to accommodate our growing size. We've implemented formal processes and policies, clearer job responsibilities, human resources, new departments, new buildings, new meetings, more security, and countless other changes. It’s not always obvious what needs to change, but that’s kind of the exciting part. The people who strive to identify new and better ways to keep up with our growth make the best employees. Everyone gets to take part in building this company. Futurex’s current expansion makes it feel like a rocket ship, with everyone here going on a once in a life time ride. I honestly wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. My work is always changing and always challenging. The knowledge and skills I receive on a daily basis are invaluable. No matter what position someone is put in, they are given the opportunity to do more work than they possibly can. Everyone has the chance to reach their full potential. If you want to take on a bigger assignment or more responsibility we’ll gladly give it to you. There’s plenty to go around. I truly believe the people and technology at Futurex are a notch above the rest. We make every effort to maintain and improve the company culture, the quality of our hardware and software, as well as our ability to innovate. My coworkers are family, and my job is fascinating.

Cons

You have to be a certain kind of person to work at Futurex. It’s a very fast paced environment. You can’t run from a challenge, and you can't try to hide from your mistakes. A lot of positions allow employees to be fairly autonomous. Those who fit the Futurex mold use this as a chance to shine. Others might be happier somewhere else where they are more closely managed.

Engineer

Pros

Very hard to identify pros for this tiny company that is ruled by a man who changes business direction every few months.

Cons

Leadership is non-existent, the owner has the leads living in fear and they defer to him as to ensure he maintains full decision making. Very stifling and unhealthy culture.

It’s very suspect that this post was written by a “former software engineer”, given that we haven’t had any leave the company in years…
