Pros

Some really fun and interesting people work there. They make working in the San Antonio area worth it. Also the work challenging but fun.

Cons

The software you will be working on is old and poorly written, everyone there is eerily young indicating that they can't retain employees, and the pay is low for what you will be doing.

Pros

Enjoyable and comfortable location and office space. Excellent working staff who are highly qualified. Ample vacation days. Adequate pay.

Cons

Micromanagement by senior management. Inability to act independently. Progress hindered by cost. Excessive evaluation of workers reported to senior management from disconnected sales staff. Continued job stability in question. Expectations undefined setting up staff for failure. Waste, waste, waste.

Pros

I started working as a software developer at Futurex as soon as I graduated from college at UTSA and have worked at Futurex for the past two years. From day one I was able to jump right in and immediately start contributing, and this was exciting as a recent graduate. I started off at my own pace, getting to learn the technology and applications. Then I was able to start helping with maintenance of the products which allowed me to further learn the company's software and hardware. Then, after I became familiar with the products I was able to dive in and start adding enhancements and developing on new projects and features. I am given lots of freedom to contribute to products and projects as a software developer and do not ever feel like my skills are being hindered by the company. For me, Futurex provides a great environment to continually advance my knowledge and skill set as a developer. If you are someone who simply loves to code and loves solving complex problems, you will love Futurex. I am part of a tight-knit engineering team that works closely together to create new and exciting products on a daily basis.

Cons

Futurex is not a place to work if you want to sit in a corner and go unnoticed. The software and hardware involved in the industry is inevitably fairly complex. For me, this environment is a coder's dream and allows me to shine, but for others I can see how this may be a con. I love coming to work every day and having the opportunity to have a direct impact on the hardware and software that I get to work with.
