Pros

Benefits. 'You must enter at least 5 words for Pros' (GlassDoor error message)

Cons

I am seriously sick of managing for my supervisor. At best, he/she should be at the first level in my department. Directors and VP's have no interest at all in the people below them or how the teams are managing. They think my supervisor has been managing my department all along when he/she does the absolute minimum every single day. If the pay and benefits were not so good, I would absolutely not still be at GCI. I have to think that the people above him/her have the same work ethic or they would've noticed. Right?? Wouldn't they have noticed by now????

This is a company that is tanking fast

Pros

If you need experience this is a good starting point.

Cons

It has gone from mildly disorganized to chaos over the last 5 years. Senior management is almost totally disconnected. Middle management is panicking all of the time. Turnover is high, pay is roughly 2/3 of market with extensive overtime expected. Promotion is based on personality and "flash" no longer merit or ideas. This company is eating itself.

GCI Response
8y
We are sorry to hear that this is your perspective on the company. As you know from our Corporate Values, GCI values our employees, leading by example, and being a good steward to the community. Our dedication to our employees is unwavering as evidenced by our 16 hours paid leave for volunteering, launch of GCI University to help promote internal employees to mgmt. positions, generous 401K, and twice yearly in-person meeting with our company COO to ensure we are hearing our employees’ concerns in real time. We can always do better. And we strive too. That’s why we recently conducted an anonymous employee survey. It showed us that we have room for improvement in certain areas but overall 83% of our employees surveyed are proud to work at GCI, 91% say they have a good working relationship with their team and 84% believe GCI is a great place to work. We are sorry that you are not having a good experience and encourage you to reach out to our HR dept. to discuss your concerns.
