Pros

I liked the freedom in scheduling my own workload and the interaction with the customers. My Director was fair and a very smart man but ignored my plea's to participate in GE's Lean Six Sigma program.

Cons

Forced revenue generation - Quarterly goals to sell consumables to hospitals that already have group buys (HCA) and refuse to buy directly from vendors. Results in poor performance evaluations when the goals are not met. Also leads Service Engineers to "con" hospitals into purchases not needed.

Pros

Good location. Great salad bar.

Cons

Deceptive and unethical management. Management unwilling to invest in employees and very little desire to see them succeed. Was surprisingly let go after one month at this company and only 2 weeks of doing actual work, simply because my Excel skills were rusty. Was essentially lied to by my manager. Was only given 1 week of training and was expected to do my work flawlessly. Management more interested in working against you, rather than with you. My manager seemed like he was more interested in appeasing his superiors and less interested in wanting to see his employees succeed. Management has typical "corporation" mentality; all about what can you do for me. Manager more of a boss mentality; does not care about employees. Very bureaucratic environment.

Pros

Well known solid company that is not likely to go under in this economy. Salary is good, but below average. Benefits are good, but declining. Good place to use as a spring board if you are just beginning your career, but don't plan to stay too long. Good resume' builder.

Cons

No work life balance although they bombard you with work life balance tips and information you can't apply. Pay is below industry standards, bonuses have gone away, insurance has gone up, coverage has gone down. Expectation is a 60-70+hr work week. Constantly reorganizing management and reporting structure. Internal IT systems are archaic causing multiple duplications of work. Be prepared to work long hard hours without the tools you need and to spend hours duplicating your work and obtaining the tools you need. Burned out employees who are doing more with less every day.
