Pros

- Work on something that matters, and that impacts people's lives. - Very large company with many internal opportunities, locally and internationally - stable company - Pay is average to above average

Cons

- GE is good about enabling employees into new roles, good for that employee, but bad for the rest of the company. As often times this person has no clue and is positioned/sold as an expert. - highly inefficient ways of doing business. GE, get over Microsoft Excel. This is 2016. - The Matrix mentality drives anyone nuts. Everyone gets into everyone's business. - Despite the Matrix, silos persist - Bureaucracy at its finest: Getting the smallest thing done/changed may require the approval of half of the US population - Too many opinionated people sometimes drain you in analysis paralysis - Health insurance has a high deductible - no stock options, bonus is sporadic

Only Short Term Focused

Pros

Used to have great benefits, pension, world class insurance, and travel policies. Still a large enough company to provide infrastructure solutions, but unable to meet the 'customers determine our success' core belief if it falls outside of the < 1 year ROI paradigm.

Cons

Pension for new employees went away a few years ago, insurance went from golden to tin, travel policies are draconian for non executives. More than 90% of managers and executives are focused only on short term survival and not longitudinal growth.

Pros

Well, it is General Electric so benefits are good

Cons

Very high school clique management style, friends of the Executive of this location are put in key positions whether they are qualified or not. They don't care about quality of work only getting the work done. In other words, keep your mouth shut and do the work.
