We’re happy to hear that you enjoy working at GEI! We agree, we have a collaborative culture and our Total Rewards are top notch so that we attract and retain top talent in our industry. Both are top priorities for us and we focus on them through listening to our employees through ongoing conversations, surveys, industry benchmarking and more, then make adjustments on a regular basis. We do understand that the commute into the downtown DC office can be rough and it is important to maintain an office in that location to accommodate client needs. It is also a great workspace where we encourage regular collaboration among colleagues. In acknowledgement of the commute, as you mentioned, we do have our hybrid work schedules where our employees can work remote several days a week and we also offer commuter benefits. Our commuter benefits allow employees to use pre-tax money to pay up to $300 in transit and $300 in parking ($600 total) per month. Thank you for continuing to be a part of and supporting our great work environment!

Thank you for highlighting some key features of our culture, including our focus on strong teamwork and collaboration. We maintain our strong culture with a continual focus on cultivating it through actions. Actions include conducting employee surveys and making improvements aligned with employee and client needs, implementing hybrid work schedules with a focus on teams working together in person several days per week and building dynamic project teams that span across the U.S. and Canada. As to being “small but mighty,” we are thriving with healthy growth and are a premier mid-sized firm in our industry. As a mid-size firm, we provide excellent programs that support career growth, such as our Leadership Development Program and Building Blocks, focused on providing our clients with exceptional value and excellent service.

Thank you for providing feedback. While your review was brief and we’d love more context, we’ll offer responses to what you’ve provided. We invite you to expand upon your brief review by contacting your former department manager or a member of our executive team to provide more insight and feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience was one where you feel we didn’t value ideas from younger generations. We have a variety of ways we focus on listening to all five generations in our workforce, for example: • Our all employee (GEI Pulse) survey, which allows us to review results by generation and requires leaders to develop and follow through on action plans. • I meet regularly with our Grades 1 – 5 (entry level employees to new project managers) to provide insights, gather feedback and make changes. • We seek feedback through a variety of channels, including our proprietary Speak Up! App that encourages employees to provide feedback on our culture. • We have a wide variety of employee committees including employee engagement committees, culture committees (DE+I, Sustainability and GEI Gives Back) and risk and compliance committees (QA/QC, Safety, 401(k)) and project-specific committees to review and make recommendations on how we are structured and operate. We are committed to listening and taking action on feedback from our employees and creating opportunities for all generations to actively engage and lead our company. Our collaborative culture, which values the and input from all generations, including our younger ones, is vital and important to our success.
