Pros

I don’t work there anymore

Cons

1% raise this year what a joke when they made 1 billion dollars in profit. Managers and up got hefty raises and bonuses though. They started lay offs this year for the first time ever. Management sucks and can’t hire quick enough to cover the people leaving. Hold times to reach us on the phone is over an hour because we are so understaffed, but management is telling us tHaT wE aRe OvErStAfFeD LoL. Yeah right. That is so typical GEICO management. They micromanage everyone. Look elsewhere for employment.

Pros

I genuinely like most of my coworkers. They’re all just really cool people to talk to.

Cons

No one above a supervisor level seems to genuinely care about anything other than the company image, how higher ups will view them and money. They don’t actually care about the people working under them. We are just a number in their metrics. Integrity is one of the company’s operating principles, yet I’ve literally had my own performance metrics knocked down for helping a customer that was paying for something they didn’t need because it meant we weren’t getting as much money from him, even though I did everything according to Geico guidelines. My supervisor had to stand up for me because upper management didn’t care and this could’ve effected my employment. This is one of MANY scenarios.

Pros

My peers are mostly excellent people.

Cons

Corporate decisions are poor and out of touch. Salary is not competitive for most positions in the company. Benefits lag grossly behind the industry averages. "Quarterly earnings mindset" "What can you do for me today?" no purposeful thought or concerns for the future of employees nor customers. Officers have trouble correlating decisions and actions to impact beyond dollars and cents. Terrible work/life balance, the company prefers associates sacrifice as much of their lives as possible in order to meet quotas/metrics. Goals for most positions (core metrics) often do not create healthy behaviors nor interactions between departments as well as external customers. Short-sighted business-decisions. Associates constantly stepping on egg-shells due to constant threat of retaliation by leadership. Voice of the Associate does not matter to the senior officers. Associate opinion surveys are not properly considered by senior management and no meaningful goals are created nor executed from feedback. Unrealistic standards and sub-standard working conditions are found for the majority of associates in the majority of departments. Long-term stability and growth is constantly being undercut by shortcuts made in the present. Salaries are well beneath industry averages and raises are disrespectfully low. Bare-bones benefits. Unstable systems and applications that cause conflict for customer facing associates. The list goes on and on.
