Depends on what office you are in

Pros

The office I worked in was aquired by General Physics, and they did a decent job of keeping the positive things about the culture and allowing our office to maintain autonomy, while using the strengths of having a larger company to back us up.

Cons

Because they grow by acquiring companies, the paths to promotion can be limited. It feels more like a bunch of small, unrelated companies than one large unified one. This could be good or bad depending on what you are looking for.

Pros

For the Portland branch it stills retains a small portion of its independence and startup culture.

Cons

For software development this is not the place to be. They have changed their core strategy to becoming experts in installing and supporting third party software.

Pros

GP has a large corporation which lends itself to getting large contracts and their foot in the door. Sustainability for the long haul is also realized due to this.

Cons

GP is known to keep certain key individuals employed and will hire people for their talents and contacts and release them after contract award.
