Pros

Great downtown Detroit location, and free lunch on Mondays, but that is the only Pro I can come up with.

Cons

Very poor salary provided for position compared to other companies. HR dept. does not take care of employees treated wrongly by supervisors/managers - they just say each has their own management style and we can't interfere (even though it was clear the person was being treated unfairly); Still lots of people in management, and other positions, that have no business being in them - totally unqualified. Benefits are not very good at all, health insurance is high, they force you to contribute to their 401K, but do not match at all. They offer you a discount on the parking garage and act like it is something good, but in all reality, it only saves you about $100 for the whole year (parking is $20/day)...other companies either offer passes to negate the expense or offer more in the way of your salary. In my 30 years of professional employment in a few different industries, this place was either the worst, or the second from the worst place I have ever worked....I should have listened to my gut instinct at the interview - a waste of time for me. They talk a good game as far as the culture and values as a company, but that is all - talk. They expect you to work a ton of overtime, but will not pay you for it since you are considered a "salary" employee (I don't think they have ever heard of exempt and non-exempt salary positions - no one gets O.T. pay).

Pros

The work is challenging enough to be interesting. As a new office for an established company, there are many opportunities to move around in the company - both for lateral moves, and promotion. The more essential your position is, the more support for success you receive.

Cons

Though the company provides total systems integrated IT infrastructure to their clients, their Detroit office, at least, is woefully unintegrated, requiring lots of human input, for which they are understaffed, causing errors and problems. Too often, office procedures are communicated only verbally and changed often with no accurate written instructions available. Middle/lower management tends to ignore these problems, as well as problems caused by those in essential or "elite" positions. Galaxe would rather fire people, or have people resign, than face their own problems. Everyone simply has to make do in an unstable environment. There is no system in place to discuss and resolve roadblocks to employee success. Hiring and firing reasons tend to be unprofessional - based on personal feelings and hearsay, unsubstantiated with facts from all sides. As a result, there is a high turnover, both from firing and (the high proportion of) resignations, of frustrated employees.
