They like to tout that you are gaining leadership skills

Cons

They expect free overtime, and will underpay you. Lots of "team building" by forcing everyone to play childish games. They time your breaks down to the second. Not a place for introverts.

Pros

This company is dedicated to its mission, both for the campers and its staff. Incredibly focused on staff professional and personal development. An environment where staff are encouraged to share their ideas and participate in the process.

Cons

As this is a summer education company, you have to work through the summer time, which can be hard when you would like to take family vacations. But, the reward is worth it and they provide a generous vacation package usable throughout the remainder of the year.

*Company uses progressive buzzwords to cover for the fact they severely underpay their camp staff. They will respond that many camps typically pay teachers and interns minimum wage (or close to it). This is a poor excuse. They have no problem talking about how much more inclusive they are than other companies, but that doesn't matter if you do not pay the people you are including a living wage. *In 2019 a child wandered off and it was hours before he was found. The company responded by firing the director and blaming the employees instead of taking any responsibility for the conditions that led to this happening: Underpaid, overworked people with camper groups that are too large. *The company culture could be summed in the phrase "toxic positivity". The environment is loud and overwhelming for a lot of kids. If you suggest any activity that isn't loud songs/skits/games, you are dismissed as not being a team player, even when the kids don't want to do any more loud activities.
