Pros

A paycheck and flexible hours

Cons

There is no opportunity for career growth in certain fields. They have an internal job board, but nothing for my role unless you want to move to company headquarters. It is possible to move up in the company, but really only in sales. They praise on career growth and create your own role, but there is no true opportunity for that. False promises and lies during the interview process. They make sure they get you in the door before telling you all of the perks are now lies. The pay is terrible. Not market competitive at all, no room for negotiates when hired either. There is no annual performance raise, which is common in corporate america companies. Your bonus is based off of how well your office does in sales. So there is no room to get an annual salary raise, unless you completely change your job!! The benefits ARE TERRIBLE. Everyone in the company even complains about how terrible the benefits are. I'm afraid to even go to the doctor because they are that bad. I have never in my life paid for birth control, with BCBSIL it is NOT COVERED!!! Vacation time is a joke. 10 days really?? Also, you don't accrue vacation during your first 90 days you accrue it AFTER. So if you start in January, you don't start getting days until April, so really you have what 6 or 7 vacation days for the whole first year? This wasn't explained until on boarding - 2 months after I was hired. There is NO HR person in each office. They have HR in the corporate office, so your first day you don't get any on-boarding or anytime with HR. I had no one to discuss benefits or anything until I had my on boarding training on web meeting. Diversity is terrible, that is something that the company is aware of and working on, but it's terrible that they have to admit that. Company culture is also terrible. Typical office gossip and drama. Management is horrible. They tell you how great of a job you are doing but behind your back say otherwise.

Old school culture, monotonous work

Pros

Management has done a great job at being organized with training and procedures. Decent first job, but wouldn't spend too long here.

Cons

Culture, benefits, organizational structure. I truly felt like a robot during my time at Gallagher. They mainly were concerned with their employees churning out work, despite the volume. First impression was the office had a stuffy, odd vibe. Definitely one of the more strict brokerage houses in terms of culture and general “rules”. There is a lack of progressive and innovative culture. Gallagher thoroughly embraces the archaic reputation of the insurance industry. Benefits and pay we’re sub par.

Pros

There are some good people, but they are not in management.

Cons

Awful environment. Management is completely a popularity contest. You better plan on drinking every night with bosses if you want a promotion or even to be recognized for your work. Communication is terrible and all around this is the worst company I have worked for.
