Pros

Good atmosphere. I like my supervisor. Benefits (PTO, holiday, Roth 401k, medical/dental.)

Cons

Please don't consider this as complaining, but it is true. Extremely low pay for assembly line employees (day shift,) Even with 4 years of experience, I am still making less than $18.00/hr. I realize this is not a high-level job, but I would make more if I worked at the "In-N-Out" restaurant. Seriously. I want to attend college so I can get a promotion (higher salary,) and although Garmin offers educational tuition reimbursement they will only reimburse 100% if the student/employee receives an "A". If a "B" then 80% If a "C" then 50% Just because someone receives a "C" grade does not mean that the student didn't learn/absorb just as much of the subject as someone with an "A" grade. Potentially, this person can memorize better, and therefore, score well on tests, but this doesn't mean they absorbed the subject. I barely make minimum wage, How can I afford to attend college if I don't receive an "A" grade? I believe this is something for the Leaders/Human Resources to consider and take into account.

Great benefits, rough pay, improving culture

Pros

Garmin has tried really hard to maintain a strong culture of inclusion and positivity. Benefits are incomparable. You would be hard-pressed to find anywhere nearby with benefits anywhere near the level that Garmin offers. Hands down superior.

Cons

Pay is well below par for the industry. It's such a point of contention for employees that it was the lowest scoring subcategory in 2023's employee engagement survey. The combined it with the benefits subcategory (one of the highest-scored categories) in most areas to downplay how dissatisfied employees are with compensation these days. Garmin also struggles a lot with consistency and clarity surrounding policies, especially WFH policy. Some teams are in the office full-time (even if the work can be done remotely), others are in a regularly-scheduled hybrid setup, and still others are rarely in the office. Depending on the location, some do not even work in an office. It's wildly inconsistent and creates frustrations and tension. Transferring to another Garmin office is generally out of the question, regardless of whether your job can be done in any available office. Advancement opportunities are also very inconsistent across departments and roles.

Pros

Working at Garmin has changed my life for the better. This is a world class facility that really cares about its employees. There is so much opportunity internally for growth or transfer. The benefits are unmatched compared to other companies in town. The people here are amazing and very talented individuals. Work life balance is such a change of pace for me also, parking garage is empty by 5:10! Overall, I can see myself here for a very long time. - 12.5% 401k Match - Onsite gym and 2 full basketball courts - Work life balance - Stable company that doesn't do layoffs - Maternity leave is 8 weeks 100% paid + more

Cons

Garmin doesn't pay likes a west coast tech company, because they aren't one. Benefits make up for a lot of pay lost.
