Pros

Compensation is based heavily on experience and demonstrated aptitude is rewarded. Benefits package is unheard of - even the free healthcare plan rivals buy-in options at competitors. Work environment at the Olathe HQ is great - you’re working with highly educated, highly motivated people every day and the pressure to excel is great. Internships and college student programs are plentiful, many interns return after graduation. Schedule is amazing - starting PTO accrual is very generous in addition to many holidays which most competitors don’t get off. Total compensation include many benefits which are also very generous, including $400/hr undergrad tuition reimbursement and flight training reimbursement for any associate who wants to learn to fly or learn a new skill. Associates get 45% off everything with the Garmin nameplate, including the full line of fitness products and outdoor units. The people you work with are a very diverse bunch. There’s no “typical” Garmin associate, and they encourage their people to try lots of new things

Cons

Some departments are prone to micromanagement There is a huge potential as the company matures for needless bureaucracy Entry-Level positions tend to be mostly busy work that more senior associates would rather not do

Pros

Benefits, Work/Life Balance, On site gym, and rec area, cafeteria, flexible hours for coming and going.

Cons

Location, Olathe is pretty boring and traffic from KC to HQ is awful. Work is pretty tedious and repetitive, no learning or progression of your skills as using outdated hand rolled version for cartography software. Sometimes it was so slow you struggled to find and work and look busy. A lot of the people working there are pretty demoralized and unenthusiastic. Relatively low hourly pay.
