Pros

Flexible work arrangements, smart people. If you are in sales or in research, you are treated like Gold.

Cons

Disregard for work-life balance, poor leadership and people management. So much emphasis is placed on sales, that the quality of the deliverables get short shrift. If you love a career in sales...Gartner is the place for you.

Pros

Good Work - Life Balance. For those in the technology field - good opportunity to pick up skills with different technologies. Access to Gartner research and analysts a positive perk, though it can also be a double-edged sword (those who have worked with analysts know what I'm talking about).

Cons

Hard to get noticed. Rewards and recognition many times affected by politics and relationships and not necessarily on the quality of one's work. Many "siloed" groups that don't interact well with each other, with management tacitly supporting this model by not actively encouraging more cooperation, particularly through example. Managers tend to be very territorial, and that attitude is passed down to subordinates.

Pros

This is written in relation to its consulting practice. Gartner provides a good training ground. However, one must take own initiative to interact with other team members since the one tends to work with different team members for different projects. You have to be proactive to reach out and learn and make a mark for yourself to be noticed. The culture is less competitive than the other BIG name consulting firms.

Cons

Gartner consulting is not exactly a big brand name in the consulting world when compared to say Bain, McKinsey etc. However, it does carve out a niche on technology for itself.
