Terrible HR department

Pros

Geisinger was a great company in the past. Unfortunately, there are many people working in management and executive positions that are horrible to the staff.

Cons

Bad management and executive leadership. Human Resources is supposed to be for the employees but this is so far from the truth at Geisinger. If you have an issue, please do not go to HR. HR will say one thing to you and another to management. I’ve never felt so betrayed! It’s terrible.

Pros

There is a lot of turnover in the company leaving room to advance and build your resume. Years ago I could see myself working here and nowhere else and would often speak fondly of the company.

Cons

The company is pushing a culture of kindness and trying to highlight the things they do for staff like fixing equipment for example which they should be doing anyways. At the end of the day though while you look at the shiny new thing they are doing to engage you working in a short staffed department. They are telling your manager to meet a productivity number and justify any replacement position, you have to many people, or your department has positions open and your co-workers are burning out, calling off or just getting a different job because the only applicants getting through are those “aligned” from a survey the applicants get and must complete in order to work a front line position. All while the company itself reported increased profits over prior years that was released in a local newspaper from the media department. I could get similar pay, hrs, and benefits without the added work being dumped on us from positions not being replaced by working at a hotel, restaurant, or senior center.
