Pros

There are some great people in the lab and it was an enjoyable work atmosphere as long as you did what you were told

Cons

There was too much work being asked of you for the pay and you were understaffed all the time

Pros

You get to interact with patients and families and get to know and comfort people in a time of uncertainty and need

Cons

For what is expected of patient care assisstants they are terribly underpaid. There were times where I had higher patient ratios than what it was like when I worked in a nursing home, which is terrible. I also did not care for the attitudes of a lot of the nurses, who really put a lot of work on PCAs, even though they were paid at least twice the amount as an average PCA. Communication tended to be poor, it was just the attitude of some of the nurses. It never felt like a team.
