Advertise lot of benefit but you wont get it Advertise big bonus but you get 20% of it Worse turn over among staff in this place. Every other person either leaving or planning to leave Management knows every single issue but no intention to resolve think many times before signing there

Pros

Geisinger is a huge organization, there are a large variety of opportunities, the benefits are good, there is a wide salary range opportunity, they offer training opportunities.

Cons

Because Geisinger is such a huge organization it can feel quite impersonal. The experience "in the trenches" can feel as if management doesn't have their "finger on the pulse" of the everyday experiences of workers.

Pros

Wonderful co-workers, teaching hospital with many wonderful clinicians, beautiful and safe rural community with people from all over the world drawn by the hospital, great team work. On my unit, schedulers try very hard to accommodate individual scheduling preferences and requests.

Cons

Individuals feel expendable but management is slow to approve and hire replacements, which means either short-staffed shifts or lots of "voluntary" overtime. Sometimes an extra monetary incentive is in place to compensate nurses for staying an extra 4 or 8 hours, taking extra shifts, or coming in 4 hours early, but this incentive is not always available on all units--it comes and goes on mine.
