Senior Leadership Jumping Ship For Obvious Reasons

Pros

Nice benies and paid healthcare

Cons

Experienced leaders are leaving and I know of more coming. You see why because it’s hard to get good work done in this environment. The problems with the culture and product would be easy to fix with the right leadership but Gemini does not clean house so problems persist. You see one star reviews across platforms complaining about basic stuff like verification process and user experience. "the app/website disappoints. The verification process is unnecessarily long, checking account approval is unnecessarily long as well. On the dashboard your deposit will dangle right there in your face however you are unable to withdraw when you want to. The authy push notification when you are trying to withdraw into an external account is unclear." Competent teams can solve these problems very easily with the right direction but bad people in senior management seems like a normal part of the company now. You see them quick to attach themselves to small wins but run away and finger point when things go wrong. Bad culture and low performing products as a result

Doing a lot right, and a lot wrong

Pros

Good pay for the most part. Reasonable work life balance for most. (but not all)

Cons

If you enjoyed high school bullies you will enjoy working here. There is no real leadership and there is no opportunity to be a leader unless you make friends with the right people. Very fake environment.

Amazon East

Pros

All remote, good base pay

Cons

It was a fun place - a little rudderless when they let go of the old CTO, but ok. The guys that ran things were nice enough. But then they hired some Amazon guy who seems to be bringing all the angst and anger from Amazon without bringing any of the ability or skills or anything. He hired his cronies, who are all unpleasant to work with, and next thing you know, all sorts of senior people are leaving. There is still potential here, but the Twins are off being public figures or buying dubious companies rather than leading (or when they do lead, its abrasive and borderline mean). The next level down is either leaving or trying to cargo cult the worst parts of other orgs. The tech is old. The company is losing money. They have an oddball equity scheme in lieu of RSUs that is impossible to determine the valuation of (hint - your equity ain't worth snot). I could go on, but what's the point?
