WEB. Balance Sheet.

Cons

Text book Peter Principle to Dunning-Kruger effect in full display. This was the best franchise in the business 10 years ago. From rush to correct coarse to overcorrection. Senior management with lifetime appointments, ineffectual with impunity. Feckless Branch managers that are never physically in the office. Second rate underwriting staff. The top tier are long gone.

Pros

Nice cafeteria, and all around campus. Most people were genuine / sincere. Pays well and fair if you are a strong employee (as it should be).

Cons

Upper management has no idea what the boots on the ground are doing, their layoffs are common and mostly unjustified. Little to no retirement on your own terms. This as been the case for at least the last 15yrs, and happening more and more.

Pros

There are a lot of great, smart, talented people at Gen Re. For many years it providied a terrific learning and growth environment.

Cons

Cost cutting is causing the company to lose many of the best people, and become just another market. What was valuable about doing business with Gen Re is gone. They have lost their differentiation. CEO picked poor managers at the top and is doubling down which will exacerbate the situation.
