Disappointing Experience – Don't Join

Pros

The only benefit is that it might serve as a stepping stone for new graduates looking to gain initial industry exposure before moving on to more structured and professional organizations.

Cons

Despite branding itself as a global company that values its people, the reality is quite different. The workplace is dominated by nepotism and questionable practices. If you don’t speak Chinese, you’ll likely be marginalized, regardless of your qualifications or performance. Leadership roles are often given to individuals close to senior management in China, even if they lack the necessary skills or English proficiency. There’s a serious disconnect between the leadership team and the realities of the U.S. market and customer needs.

Pros

Good for international student if you need sponsorship or work visa. Very eventful and will keep you very busy. So you can build a good resume from here. A reputable brand

Cons

1 person is working for 3 people job at least, because they are keep comparing salary with Chinese employees. They think US employee is too expensive to hire. No diversity as you can see. 1 local people among a 15 people team, the rest are all Chinese. it will be hard for you if you don't speak chinese. Hierarchy culture from China, you have to kiss axx to move up.

Pros

Each team might be different, but mine welcomed me with minimal lab experience outside of my biotech degree. Coworkers were nice - about half were from China, very knowledgeable and helpful, here on work visas to teach the locals. Repairs/maintenance/IT help was very prompt. Offices and labs were clean and we can request whatever is needed. Permanent employees get free lunch. Temp workers get free snacks/coffee/milk, plus whatever lunches (usually miso soup) are unclaimed after 4pm (might have changed to 5pm March 2025). Depending on the day's needs, you can arrive or leave early, or stay later for possible overtime if needed.

Cons

Sometimes communication could be better between teams. Coda Temp pay was $24/hr, and upgrading to full time lab tech would have taken at least 6 months (some workers had to wait over a year) and would have been $26/hr - not enough for me.
