Pros

The company has a great product and could become the dominant player of its segment

Cons

Management is just awful here, specially on the lower levels. A bunch of self entitled "know it all" wannabes, that don't respect others opinions. The location in Daly City is just awful, no good restaurants around, nothing to see on your free time and the cold weather all year around. For a company making a decent profit, they don't invest it on the employees. Don't expect any perks either. Finally, they don't accrue any vacation time. It could be great if you have a reasonable manager, but if you fall into the hands of one of those "wannabes", then I'm sorry for you.

Lack of vision and forward thinking

Pros

401k match Improved on employee relations, bagels once a month, beer bash once a month, before there was nothing in regards to employee relations. Average benefits.

Cons

This is not Google or Facebook and cannot be compared to these employee centric forward thinking companies who set standards. Genesys does not set standards. No limit vacation = no vacation, when you are short staffed. You can only take one week at a time. If you don’t take vacation, there isn’t any accrual, so when you leave the company there is no pay out of accrued vacation = $0 No culture, no grass roots “genesys” culture, nothing from senior management, president, cfo or cto. A beer bash and bagels does not equal culture. Very, very limited on any stock options. No plan or thought when making acquisitions, large growth the last two years, but no plan on how to manage the growth. Lack of any vision. Let’s keep running things like we have the last 15 years. Poor support, poor execution of new software.

It’s nice that you notice we are doing more every day to improve the employee experience; we actually receive a lot of great comments about our cohesive sense of culture and community and the increase in leadership communication. However, sometimes beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I understand that Open Time Off policies might be confusing to some. However, to be clear, there is not a specific limit; as with most companies that have OTO programs, time off is agreed upon between the employee and their manager. Our goal is to ensure everyone has a good work/life balance and any concerns about how individual managers implement this program should come to our HR team or department VP. Regarding options, every single employee gets an option grant; a fact we are very proud of. I wish you the best in your future endeavors. …Tracy

Pros

Great product on the on premise end. If you work under a good manager you can learn alot.

Cons

1. If you do not speak Russian you are doomed. Everyone just speaks in Russian and have no regard for the non-Russian speaking colleagues. For crying out loud I was at a dinner table with the CTO and he was speaking in Russian. Total disregard! 2. Pathetic management with no vision and directions. Priorities change every week and do not get communicated to everyone. 3. Alot of politics. With the acquisitions of so many companies in the past 18 months, the cloud business has become a true "House of Cards". No one gets along with the other teams and everyone has inflated egos. 4. Genesys has no clue how to run a Cloud business. Genesys has never been a cloud business but still dictates all decisions around it. Also, if you are not from legacy Genesys or Russian he doesn't care however good you are. 5. Fake reviews. From the reviews it is obvious that there is a massive HR campaign to improve their online image. HR claims they are individual opinions but do you seriously buy that. Will a HR employee actually add an honest review on Glassdoor? Will senior management really speak the truth? This was all orchestrated to attract talent into the company. 6. Mediocre office and located in Daly City! Working in the Engineering space is DEPRESSING!!! Chairs are flimsy, cheap monitors, horrendous phones and closed work spaces. The Chantilly and Somerville offices are great but working in Daly City is depressing. 7. Short term focus for IPO or sell out. 8. Constant layoffs. Seriously your job is not secured here. 9. Below market pay.

Genesys is a very diverse, global company. You will hear many languages on a walk around our headquarters; Russian, French, Spanish and Portuguese to name a few. As our original founders were Russian, it stands to reason that this is one of the many languages heard around the building. We embrace our diversity. Our direction and strategy are clear and are reinforced regular blogs and in quarterly Company all hands calls led by Paul, our CEO and quarterly R&D calls led by Slava, our CTO. With several recent acquisitions and focus on growth in the cloud area there has been a lot of change over the past couple of years. Overwhelmingly we’ve entered the cloud market with great success and are on very promising trajectory in that area. Regarding reviews on this site, we do encourage our employees to leave feedback. That the feedback is predominately positive is representative of most employees’ experience here, and is the reason why we’ve been ranked in the Top 50 Best Places to Work for Glassdoor. Most people won’t stay at a company where they are miserable. Why would they? From a location perspective, Daly City is conveniently located a skip from SF on BART, and there's loads of free parking if you choose to drive. If someone doesn’t like their chair or monitor, they should talk to our facilities folks and they’ll see what they can do. I encourage you to seek out someone in management or HR to discuss your concerns in person. ...Tracy
