I have the misfortune of working under the new sales leadership team, and it is thoroughly an unpleasant experience from start to finish. Allow me to elaborate on the myriad of reasons why:
Lack of Leadership Skills: Leadership demonstrates a complete inability to lead and inspire their team. Rather than providing clear direction and motivation, they seem more interested in micromanaging every aspect of our work, suffocating any potential for creativity and productivity.
Poor Communication: Effective communication is paramount in any managerial role, yet they consistently fail in this regard. Important information is often withheld or delivered in a confusing and disorganized manner, leaving the team feeling lost and frustrated.
Zero Support: A good leader should be there to support their team members, but she is conspicuously absent when needed most. Instead of offering guidance or assistance during challenging situations, leadership is quick to assign blame and deflect responsibility.
Toxic Work Environment: The sales environment has become a breeding ground for negativity and discontent. Their confrontational attitude and favoritism towards certain team members create a toxic atmosphere that makes it difficult to focus on our tasks.
Incompetent Decision-Making: Time and time again, sales leadership has made poor decisions that directly hindered our ability to succeed. Whether it is implementing ineffective sales strategies or ignoring valuable feedback from the team, incompetence is evident at every turn.
Industry Knowledge: Lack of industry experience and the desire to even learn what Genesys sells is a recipe for disaster. It's a colossal failure on senior leadership's part to place a team lead with limited ability in a position of authority.
Overall, my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. Lack of leadership, poor communication skills, and toxic behavior ultimately drove away talented employees and is hindering the success of the remaining team. I would strongly advise anyone considering working in enterprise sales in the San Francisco Bay area to proceed with extreme caution.
