      No longer a "best place to work"

      Pros

      Genesys still seems to have industry leading products. But the spate of acquisitions in the last two years have completely changed the company for the worse. If you don't believe me, see the trends for Glassdoor ratings. In the past 2 years, it's gone down form 4.5 to 3.6 and sinking fast,

      Cons

      People who came in through acquisitions are given senior positions to the detriment of long time employees in spite of the acquired products being decommissioned (Angel). And existing employees are being asked to train their replacements in Chennai. Genesys software isn't good at Natural Language Understanding. Amazon put Alexa in the cloud with AWS/connect. Instead of focusing on threats to its very existence, senior management seems to be interested in just growing through acquisitions. And yes, they got a new logo, I see (Wonder what it cost).

      The good and the bad, but mostly good

      Pros

      Smart people. Managers that care about employees. Hiring a lot means growth. Cool technologies. Flexible work hours, open time off. Within the office everyone is collaborative, friendly, and helpful.

      Cons

      Direction not clear from upper management. Product vision seems tied to customer demands instead of best way forward to succeed as a company, which causes changes in work too frequently. Half the company is pushing premise as priority. Other half is pushing cloud. Leads to mixed messaging. Professional services group is weak, leading to stresses on other groups.

      Terrible, toxic culture

      Pros

      Free parking and that's it.

      Cons

      Toxic work culture that has trickled down from upper management and private equity firms who could care less about employees. Everyone is disposable, and they'll just replace you with contractors and consultants (or better yet, offshore your role). You will not be valued or rewarded for your hard work here. The 5 star reviews are definitely fake reviews put out by HR since they track Glassdoor ratings closely.
