Terrible management

Pros

There is a casual dress code and "flexible" hours.

Cons

Management is terrible at allocating resources effectively based on skill set. If you then try your best but cannot perform at an expert level, they threaten to fire you. Although hours are flexible, employees are about >150% utilized, so there is no scope to learn. Everyone is overworked and underpaid. They may have been less so had they been given tasks that matched their skill set or at least some training.

Pros

Salary and benefits are competitive

Cons

Lied to me about initial sign on benefits. They offered me an extra week of vacation then refused to put it into my contract. No feedback on job performance. Training was minuscule and they will ridicule you for asking questions. They are more than 2 years behind on many projects. I am honestly not even sure how they continue to run as a business. There is so much overlap and waste in their processes. For a tech company, nothing is streamlined and they use outdated software. Everything they do that is supposedly innovative can be done through a combination of Google Earth and using data from NOAA. Really just a horrible place to be a part of.

Fun and Friendly, but Unorganized

Pros

Super friendly, laid back place to work. Huge emphasis on life>work which is great and refreshing . Flexible working hours was very nice. Lots of office lunches and group meetings.

Cons

The emphasis on life>work, and the flexible work hours means that there isn't enough pressure to get things done, and employees aren't always in the office at the same time, making colaboration difficult. Lots of remote employees also makes collaboration difficult. The management was getting better but still doesn't manage much. Seems like the company grew too fast for the management and structure of the company. Internal IT and systems (wiki, information hub, internal social networking) was a complete mess. Information is scattered all over and you have to ask people in order to find it, which results in lots of wasted time on both sides.
