Pros

I met and worked with some really smart people who are full of integrity. Worklife balance is great. SMEs are somewhat appreciated. 401K and vacation was generous. There are some opportunities to move to other divisions within the company.

Cons

Very disappointed in the culture and leadership. The concept of MBM is great but it is selectively applied. Opportunities for promotion were extremely limited.

Pros

The pay is better entry level than any other place 75k for Engineers right out of college and you can ask for 80k-85k if you Coop there.

Cons

Typical manufacturing bs you have to deal with. Upper management needs to make changes or you will continue to see young engineers come for the salary and bonus and leave after a year. ( If you stay a year you dont have to pay back your signing bonus )

Pros

There are some great people to work with in the salaried and hourly ranks. The pay is acceptable for the area. The mill used to be (and could be again) one of the flagships of GP.

Cons

The management hides their indiscretions behind the veneer of MBM Principals. They will talk about integrity and then lay off a third of the salary work force with no warning (August 2016). The union tends to write grievances as a tool to further their cause, The mill is quickly on its way to being on of the worst managed paper mills in the country, The turnover rate is very high, with most of the high value, high performing, knowledgeable workers leaving for better jobs.
