Pros

Great Manager, ability to travel, different projects to learn from

Cons

In 2020 they laid off most if not all younger engineers meaning they have pivoted into a company that does not want to grow younger talent from within. I would not recommend any position for a young engineer as upper management has no respect for younger talent.

Pros

Decent money if you put in overtime. Its a decent place when you first start off. There is ample overtime available. If you are single and don't really do much outside of work this is a great place to work.

Cons

The supervisors and superintendents are very slow to make any decisions unless its involving safety and even then its very slow. If you bring up an issue to supervision nothing is usually done about the issue. They stress safety but its really all about production. While there is ample overtime available they will try to work you 24/7 if possible. Supervision a lot of times execute choices that can be very logically counterproductive. There will be times when you work seven days straight and to try to get a day off is impossible even if you have something to do family wise and they will look down on you if you don't put them first over your business. If you have a family this place is not the ideal place to work at as there are people here who work so much that they don't get to see their loved ones very often. The building is old and outdated as well as some of the machines so there are a lot of hazards and risks still present with its current infrastructure. The workers here tend to gossip and be unprofessional more so the women than the men. There is a strong possibility that if certain workers are upset they can get you fired as supervision definitely has coworkers they favor and its usually the women as most supervision are guys. Women are catered to more than men are here so they usually will be the first to have newer and better gear first and they will get their days off or even vacation or random days off if requested a lot quicker than the men as all they have to do is sweet talk the supervisors. The plant manager cussed everyone out constantly in a meeting being very unprofessional so you have to watch out for that as well if things don't go their way you will be on the receiving end of their attitudes.

Pros

I've been at GP for about 3 years. I enjoy working here, and plan on staying. One of the best parts of working at Georgia-Pacific is their individualized approach to everything - compensation, development, expectations. I took this job, knowing that I could grow my career in different directions as I am not pegged in to the position title I currently have. My managers (had a few as I've changed roles/departments) have all listened to where I want to go and helped me get there. MBM is something that I believe in and flows in to other aspects of my life, not just work. It's a company that believes in doing the right thing.

Cons

Vacation - its an average package, starts with two weeks but does not go up to three weeks until year 5! But they also do have good holidays - more than other companies I've worked for.
