Pros

Good benefits, autonomy. Like the workplace setting and the people are mostly friendly. Not a ton of jerks.

Cons

Poor leadership and management at times.Constantly working on proposals to keep funding makes it difficult to do good research. Business model might need some tweaking

Pros

Starting salaries are good and the 403(b) plan is generous. Lots of paid vacation time (21 days per year) and you aren't really expected to work more than 40 hours unless you have a deadline. Tuition waiver for working on advanced degrees is extremely nice, and it doesn't take too much out of your day to go to class since you're already on campus.

Cons

Promotions are extremely rare (first one requires 5 years experience AND a Master's degree) and the annual raises (even COLA) are non-existent due to shortfalls in the state budget. This causes a lot of turnover in the lower-level positions and there are very few employees between the ages of 25 and 35. No bonuses or profit-sharing either.
