Pros

- Hard to get fired. You basically have to commit a felony. - Retirement is pretty good

Cons

- No performance based raises. Or really any raises. - Too much reliance on students. We invest time in them while they do mediocre work and then they leave. - Hard work is not recognized or rewarded. Once they catch on that you are competent you will do the work of 4 engineers to make up for the engineers that produce nothing - Culture sucks. Forced to return to work because Trump said so. HR is adverserial. - You have to pay for your own parking. - CRB is a terrible building. Always too cold or hot. Lots of construction. - Leaders are too swamped to be organized. Projects feel amateur and code quality is low. - Near zero opportunity for growth. - only opportunity for a raise is every 5 years and you have to spend your own time feel out a ridiculous promotion packet to beg like a dog for a measly 6% raise. - President quit when things got tough.

Pros

Benefits & other coworkers are okay.

Cons

Long hours expected. They keep people employed just to let them retire even though they aren’t good employees. They promised us equity adjustments & then when cola came out they withdrew adjustments of any kind.

Pros

Easy to coast. Pay was exceptional, time off was unrivaled, and retirement was unbelievable -- finding another job with equivalent compensation was incredibly difficult. My coworkers and direct supervisor were genuinely great.

Cons

All cons are specific to the Huntsville Alabama office, as far as I can tell. If I had worked in Atlanta, I think my experience would have been significantly different. Easy to coast. Healthcare wasn't great. There was a lack of meaningful work. In the interview I was led to believe I would be working on projects that I simply never got to work on. I ended up working on projects I explicitly stated -- in the interview -- that I did not want to work on. Upper management is a complete mess. It might just be because of COVID, but management either always had unrealistic expectations, or they never properly communicated their expectations.
