Interesting work, but....

Pros

The work was interesting. Working with DoD customers is very rewarding.

Cons

Management literally doesn’t care about their employees. Pay is under market, and they always promise they will “fix it” but even after spending millions on a study, they ignore the results because it’s not what they wanted to hear. There are no opportunities for advancement except for a select few.

Pros

The work at GTRI is challenging and interesting. There are opportunities to learn new technologies. The employees at GTRI are exceptionally bright.

Cons

Generally, the managers are interested in research not management. Many of the managers are selected for their technical skills and lack any management skills. Salaries are below market and the prospects for raises are low regardless of performance.

Pros

Good Benefits! 401k match is really good. Healthcare is not expensive (I’m single). They will pay for you to further your education. PTO and sick leave is very good. Managers are flexible with your time.

Cons

The culture is mundane & this place lacks diversity in employees. There is no person of color in upper management. The work is research based so its a lot of reading and writing documents. Because it’s a nonprofit and state government funded there are limitations on what the company can do for its employees in terms of moral boosting activities. If you’re looking for a company that’s modern, fun and looks after its employees stay away from here. Promotion is based off experience and education experience.
