Pros

- smart colleagues raise my game - challenging technical problems to solve - employees really care for each other, many get together outside work - great clients - internal technical conferences - employee owned! - colleagues are good human beings who want to do the right thing

Cons

- it can be challenging to set up your own internal network between branches - we have some problems with uniformity across the company in applying some technical practices and some management practices - we are crossing the bridge from small to large company and there are growing pains

Pros

1. there are excellent, competitive benefits 2. there are excellent opportunities, mostly through field assignments for entry level staff 3. friendly colleagues 4. excellent safety culture

Cons

1. hard work is not universally rewarded 2. the culture is to work very long hours...there is no work-life balance 3. doer/seller/manager = sell work so i can do it myself and not train or manage staff to pass on my knowledge = capable/technical people that don't know how to manage 4. favoritism and sexism galore 5. people take credit for others' work (learn how to thump your own chest to survive)

Pros

Salaries are decent (at least initially). Benefits are very good, medical, dental, vision, 401k. Many projects are challenging and unique. There are some technically brilliant people in the company.

Cons

-The performance review process is a sham. In reality, there is very little feedback from management and performance isn't noticed. -The vast majority of employees are salaried and work very hard (60+ billable hour weeks are the norm). Every billable hour over 36 in a week is pure profit for Geosyntec, but employees are not rewarded with meaningful bonuses, promotions, or raises. -Poor performance on the part of those within the inner circle is rewarded. -Management is disrespectful, dishonest, often incompetant, and has a tendancy to cover their own inadequacies by sacking the junior level staff that they should be mentoring and training. -The work environment is more adversarial than collaborative. -Human resources inquiries into management issues have resulted in the sacking of the plaintifs in the past.
