Pros

I have extreme flexibility to grow into any position I want. I am given the freedom to pursue my own professional goals and grow my own practice. Even as a mid-level employee, I am given upper management support allowing me to sidestep the traditional corporate structure and advance in my career at an accelerated rate. Geosyntec has a vested interest in my success and demonstrates that interest on a daily basis.

Cons

You will find it very difficult to fit in at Geosyntec if you want to do commodity type work (not a con for me). Also, people tend to work WAY too much.

Pros

Decent pay and benefits package.

Cons

1.Widely spread territories require a lot of travel. 2.Highly unstable managerial staff. Do NOT outperform them. They will praise you right up until they can fire you. 3.Managers do NOT want to hear about any great ideas you have. Rocking the boat will get you fired without warning. Please don't confuse them with a factual analysis of any better ways than they thought of. 4.If you are in the clique, all manner of incompetence is ignored. 5.Managers ding you for users' complaints regardless of the veracity of the complaint. No opportunity to discuss or rebutt is given. 6. Communication and training is kept to a minimum. Learning the system is trial and error. Of course, errors can get you fired without warning. 7.Workstation and facilities provided to do work were insufficient. I had to cobble together enough power and network connections to work. 8.Overall, for a largish company, it is still run like a little family business.. if you're not family.. well, you get the picture.
