Love working for Giant

Pros

Family oriented work environmemt. Very good pay and annual raises. Great benefits for part timers and full timers. Paid holidays, plenty of room to move up within the company. Each employee can make their own decision to make the customer happy without the need to get a manager. Very clean work environment and you actually get an employee discount.

Cons

Very busy supermarket chain. Not enough hours given to hire enough people. Can be very stressful at times.

Very Low morale throughout company. Upper management uses fear and intimidation with general managers. Very little regard for work/life balance. 70 hour workweeks the norm

it is hard to believe that a company with the resources and customer base that giant food has not realized that SELF CHECKOUT is not the way to go!!!!!!! people are not going to pay the high prices and wait on themselves! Just look at your store inventory results!

Cons

have upper management visit unannounced and see what they have created by chopping all the hours!
