Pros

Great co-workers Ability to make own hours Free to train clients uniquely; no restrictions on how we trained Free gym membership

Cons

Overworked and underpaid (had to work 6 days a week; only day off was during the week; got paid minimum wage for floor hours; would be at the gym for 6-7 hours, but only get paid for 3-4 due to lack of floor hours and time in between clients) Under-appreciated by management Unrealistic goal expectations (every other Wednesday, we were "required" to sell minimum $500 worth of training) Poor management (FM had favorites, some trainers were fed clients while others were given none; would call us out one by one during meetings to see how much we've sold on that day)

Pros

The name Gold's Gym still has a large presence in the fitness community. There is a huge franchise following which allows for you as an employee to make outside contacts.

Cons

The Corporate side of Gold's Gym only operates 60 gyms. All the others are franchises and there is no real relationship between the two sides. The company is actually a tiny company and is ran by people not from the fitness industry hence its decline in the recent years. The gyms are spread very thin. Too many duties on the acting managers with little pay.

Pros

Friendly atmosphere. You are able to network with large amounts of people. If you dont feel like doing much that day no one notices.

Cons

The goals set for you are often times unrealistic. however they can be achieved. Coworkers can be cut throat about the sales.
