Pros

The co-workers, technology, leadership and potential of the organization. I’m an Account Manager (inside sales) and would strongly recommend Goliath to prospective sales professionals if you have ambition, are willing to work hard, and are interested in software & technology. I’m not going to spend time on the technology here other than saying it solves serious pain points for IT professionals which enables sales to focus on helping solve issues vs doing transactional selling, feature selling or up-selling. What I do want those looking at this post and considering working for Goliath to know is that I have learned more on strategic selling & C-level strategy in my 6+ months of working at Goliath than in undergrad, my career, and graduate school combined prior to coming to Goliath. You will undoubtedly gain skills that will make you successful, whether that is long-term with Goliath or somewhere else. Our CEO is one of the primary reasons why I am so confident in the organization. He had the foresight to act on certain competitive advantages in the market place that our competitors still haven’t been able to replicate. He is a phenomenal mentor if you are willing to dedicate time and effort. I’ve seen on numerous occasions where he has helped people get jobs outside of the company and paid out a rep double commission on a six-figure deal when it was questionable and originally not ruled a “double-commission” scenario by the finance department.

Cons

There have been, and still are, areas of improvement in work-life balance but changes have been made recently that are in the right direction.

Pros

- Great base level employees - Nicer Office and Location right by the train - The ability to appreciate other jobs in comparison - The product is cool

Cons

Do not believe the promises that are told to you in the interview you will not be there long enough to see anything come true most likely. The turn over is significant for such a small company, people are fired, burnt out, and treated poorly consistently. (They are a small company you will be expected to tell clients that Goliath is much bigger and influential than they are) The CEO is extremely focused on what is good for him, he makes tons of promises and delivers on very few of them. The management team is sycophants and are terrified of the CEO which they should be as he would fire them in a second if he was unpleased with him. The management team tends to steal the good ideas from the employees and pawn them off on their own and blame the employees when something is wrong. CEO will hire and fire people at whim constantly demanding 10-12 hour days on a constant basis as he lives in the office sometimes literally. He expects the same of you even if you are not getting paid what you deserve. While I worked there people that worshipped the CEO from previous companies were brought it, and then other people were fired. I saw in my year there atleast one person per month be let go, I would say 85% of them were amazing employees who produced great work. Other than the CIO (came from an old company of the CEO surprise see a pattern) it seems that women don't last long at Goliath as of the 6 women in the office 4 were let go in one year. One day you will be praised the next you are being belittled. I could go on about the poor experience that I and the rest of the real reviews below however you most likely see the pattern in the reviews. Avoid this company, alot of promises will be made, but trust me you will regret it.

The interview process is a great opportunity to test these issues. What is turnover like? How many employees have been with the company for more than a year? How many employees have celebrated life milestones such as engagements, marriages, or having children while working here? You can also ask to speak with other employees or executives. Goliath has a proven track record of success and record growth year after year thanks to our team members. The executive team is accountable to each other and to the employees with quarterly updates based on promised goals, not just achievements. None of this would be possible in the environment described above.

Pros

If you've ever had an inside sales job where you've had to make hundreds of calls in hopes to set an appointment, you'll greatly appreciate Goliath as the marketing team does a great job to get INCOMING warm leads for the sales team to follow up on. The products are in high demand and there is limited competition which equates to a high win ratio for Goliath (If you've had other sales jobs where you are competing with many competitors including re-sellers of the same product you'll appreciate this aspect of Goliath). My manager was John Grant and I thought he did a great job leading by example as he worked harder and more hours than any other Manager I've ever had. The Sales Management team provides ongoing training's and does everything that they can possibly do to help move deals forward.

Cons

It's great to get a lot of incoming leads driven from marketing/web leads but management doesn't really distinguish between incoming leads and sales self generated leads. There could be a bigger emphasis on that.

Thanks for the feedback. The entire team is aligned in the same direction: the success of the company. To that end, everyone is accountable to each other, understands how our individual role impacts the success of the organization, and is rewarded for their efforts. This means, for example, that the marketing team is driven to provide the best possible leads to sales because when sales closes a deal everyone wins. It was a pleasure working with you, congrats on your new opportunity and best wishes for your future success.
