Pros

* One of the best products I have ever seen and used in my career - such incredible value to customers, innovative, and works!! * Founders are great people and care about the culture and people. Very smart. * Gong, a couple years ago, was a great place to work.

Cons

* Some bad people as leaders have been brought in - not just bad leaders, bad people. * Unethical in the way the new leadership operate the business and how they speak about people, calling them "Losers" as an example on a public call. * Salesforce/Tableau 2.0 - bringing in all leadership from Tableau and very very arrogant yet do not add much value. They are destroying the culture. * Letting go of people non stop, yet trying to hide it. Lots of laying off and firing, by surprise. * People quitting in large numbers. * Destroyed the morale and culture within the company. * When interviewing here, simple LinkedIn search can show you the people who are gone/left within the last 12 months - it's a high number. *Upmarket sales, very challenging to hit quota or even come close - few people who have blatant bias and favor from leadership given opportunities.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. It’s great to hear about your passion for the product and the value it delivers to customers, and that you had a positive experience with our founders. You’re right that they – and our entire executive leadership team – care deeply about building a culture of inclusivity, where people can bring their authentic selves to work every day, are treated respectfully, empowered (and trusted), and given growth opportunities. I’m sorry that wasn’t your experience. We’re always striving to do better, and I’m here to listen if you have additional feedback or suggestions. Pros

The platform itself is pretty incredible! I loved to sell this product, I truly believe any organization would benefit from using Gong. There are employee resource groups, which I also found to be beneficial in the efforts to increase inclusion/diversity. It was refreshing to see so many women and POC in leadership! Keep it up! Also, I really loved my direct Manager, and everyone on my team was extremely hard-working & fun!

Cons

Gong stopped caring about the people at the bottom of the totem pole. It used to be a fun place to work, you felt supported, etc. Now, morale is in the gutter, people aren't happy, and everyone feels underappreciated. In addition to the restructuring of a few orgs, the vast majority of reps aren't able to hit quota, which affects not only income, but also their career paths. It's such a long and unforgiving path to move from SDR up to AE; it would be easier to quit the company & reapply as an AE than it would be to work toward an internal promotion. I also found it strange that leadership acknowledged that the majority of the company feels there is not a good work/life balance, but then increased our quotas.

Thank you for taking the time to communicate your experience at Gong. While it's hard to hear that anyone is feeling this way in our organization, I am thankful that you threw up this flag so we can be better for it. If you are up for it, please set up time with me to make a connection (no need to reference this review if you'd prefer to stay anonymous). I'd love to hear more and address any questions you may have about the way we run the org and/or the heart behind it. If not, know that we are working on making a place where people can thrive and I sincerely hope that you experience that as well going forward. - Ryan, CRO

Pros

Strong product. Better than competitors for sure, and has a really exciting roadmap.

Cons

Constant turnover amongst leadership team. New CRO is forcing strong leaders out and bringing in his own people in Utah. Since he/they have started, Gong has become unbelievably toxic. Looking at their previous employers’ Glassdoor reviews, this appears to be consistent with how they run their business. No one is happy and everyone is leaving/interviewing for new positions. I don’t even recognize the place anymore. New comp plans were made out to be this amazing new moneymaker, but they are making it basically impossible to make decent money. basically everyone in the sales org feels duped. On top of that, they keep moving the finish line for path to promotion to go upmarket and leaders fail to answer basic questions about promotion criteria. Certain reps are quite literally handed huge deals while others aren’t, it’s very obvious favoritism. SDR org has been unproductive for years, and it’s only getting worse. If you sign up to be an AE here, just know you’re getting underpaid and will be doing the job of an SDR, AE, CSM… good luck getting help from leadership on big deals, as all of their calendars are booked 100% for weeks. I don’t know any salesperson at Gong who isn’t extremely stressed, unhappy and looking for jobs elsewhere.
