Making Changes

Pros

GoodCents is in an exciting growth phase with a team of committed people working hard to make positive changes. The company is private equity owned as of about a year ago and we have seen a large amount of investment in key areas, which I don't think happens all the time. Management is very hands on and working alongside the rest of the team to build a stronger company from the inside out. I've never worked somewhere where everyone was so committed to being better. The pace of change is impressive. We're all sharing in the success.

Cons

There was some restructuring that hurt morale, but it was necessary, and the company will emerge stronger as a result. Change is hard.

Thank you for your post. Our new management is striving hard to be very hands on and working with the teams and we are glad it's being noticed!!! Restructuring is never easy, but sometimes necessary. Our management does not take this lightly as it does effect people's lives. Change is hard, but necessary.

We appreciate your candid feedback. Sometimes tough decisions have to be made when a merger occurs. Unfortunately those decisions do have an effect on people. The management team takes a number of factors into consideration and it is not a decision that is taken lightly. We wish we could keep everyone employed, but unfortunately this could not happen. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Tough place to work

Pros

Majority of employees are good, hard working people.

Cons

Recent acquisition by private equity group is destroying the company. New CEO and his direct reports speak out of both sides of their mouths and as a result are not trusted by employee base. On one hand, CEO promised no staff changes and paid bonuses for 2015. He then reverses completely on the bonus and systematically begins moving jobs to corporate, does RIFs and tolerates disrespectful and insulting behavior to employees from his direct reports.

Thank you for your feedback. We believe timely, accurate employee communication is critical. This year, we’ve launched weekly staff email newsletters, weekly staff audio/video podcasts and quarterly staff “Town Hall Meetings” to cover company performance. If you have additional specific ideas for communication improvements, we encourage you to bring these to your manager or HR so we can incorporate them into our employee communication strategy.
