Pros

The job is very easy, monotonous and can be done half-asleep. Even at the management level.

Cons

There are more politics and backbiting in this company than any other I have ever worked for. The best way to move up in the company is to make inside friends and to buy bribe or cheat your way to the top. I've worked for this company for five years in nine different stores in two different states and have seen it in every location.

Pros

Very rewarding to work withe people with disabilities. Pay is about the same as other nonprofits. Good place to learn social work skills. Easy to get hired on.

Cons

Management is very unfair particularly with its hiring and promoting practices. Rarely if ever is the person be suited for the job hired. Instead the "teacher's pet" is promoted instead.

Pros

*Please note that Goodwill is REGIONAL and I can only speak for this region You can get 40 hours a week and often 2 days a week off in a row.

Cons

Hourly raises are insignificant compared to may other organizations. Production quotas are constantly increased and unreachable so staff are constantly strained and stressed. Very anti-union. Training, continuing education, and employee assistance programs childcare, health and wellness, family needs, personal money management skills, etc. are not available or are inadequately supplied and poorly administered. For example, in order to be eligible for scholastic reimbursement, employees must be working and attending school full-time. This is not possible for workers with families, or even for most people.
