Pros

Pay is decent but no formal or informal reviews and no raises. Long contract term. Remote work is good and the company has nothing to do with this as it’s at the govt’s discretion and direction of coming to the office a couple times a week.

Cons

Tons of issues here. People issues, lack of PM experience at the highest levels on the contract and lack of education or credentials for PM and they get promoted to lead a large team/contract. Contract is on 3rd PM in a year. Previous 2 were poor excuses that had no skills to be in that position in the first place and the govt forced them out. Eventually the company will lose the contract. They will hire just about anyone and promote their own clan. It’s sad to say but discrimination is so evident here but God forbid anyone say anything about it because you will be targeted and forced out with made up excuses. Only reason I am here was got picked up by the company when last company lost contract and I like the client. I am considering going govie at less pay but won’t have to deal with this BS. But I am on the job market looking for something better. I went above and beyond on an effort with no thank you, no overtime pay, no bonus, no acknowledgment whatsoever. It’s just a paycheck for me now. No incentive to grow or advance with the company and no more above and beyond. So if u want to stay under the radar and coast without doing a lot of work, you can retire here. You will be another bean counter. and someone they can make off of. Only if there were hidden cameras when the clans are talking about those that aren’t part of their clicque. Should do a TikTok on this contract about what really goes on. Senior mgmt has no clue.

Pros

Compensation is reasonable. The defense Business President is very good.

Cons

Most notable problem is senior management. Program staff at junior levels may be spared temporarily but if you advance, watch out for unreasonable, unprofessional behavior. Micro management in some cases, unrealistic expectations in others and false accusations to cover their own real or perceived errors was rampant. Witnessed 3 staff at the VP level or higher who quit or were relieved of duty that were good, solid performers and respected professionals at other companies. Not the situation at GovCIO. Also saw firsthand that unprofessional behaviors were tolerated by the executive team. There was no appetite for learning at these levels to grow the organization and new ideas, even those that supported growth for the company and work-life balance for dedicated employees were rarely listened to and actually disregarded outright.

Pros

Good pay (?) Work from home (?)

Cons

Company promotes barely-literate bullies to lord over highly-competent staff. Incompetent enterprise composed of some highly competent individuals. Mgmt are good ole' boys who have difficulty with multisyllable words. Leadership wouldn't recognize intelligence if it bit them on the can. N-word heard more than once in off-record conversations (from uppers). Point out a technical problem and get told to shut up and sit down. Point out toxicity and get labelled "dramatic".
